News! We’re producing another holiday Album for 2026! But rather than paying for the production costs, we’re working with the teachers & students of Americana Music Academy,
First of all, welcome to GPSFretworks, an electronics shop located in Lawrence, KS. :-)
Just a note: We no longer service amps for individuals. I don’t really have the energy any more, and other shops are popping up. I only repaired amps because there were no others (that I knew of) in the area. If you’re really at a dead end & need some help, we charge a minimum of $300. All repairs are taken out of that amount.
And GPS is still around.. we are doing repairs for non-profits (Americana Music Academy) , and helping out Sad Cowboy Recording Co. I’m also designing and building test equipment (biasing, probes, etc.). And we’re sponsoring a new holiday album for 2026, after the successes of those in the last two years..
A note of advice: If you inherit an old tube amp, don’t think you found a diamond and want to sell it for a lot of money. If it has a two-prong cord, it’s already in need of quite a bit of maintenance to bring it back into life (just figure at least 150 bucks). Also, the low-end amps don’t seem to sell as well as the expensive ones, because if you’re going to drop that much money, you may as well go with quality, power and a reputable brand. Research on the internet for the average price.
